Cloud Atlas

"I just want to die as myself, do you understand that?"

I'd like to think that, if we were meant to live other lives, that there are parts of us that would still remain the same. That a person who grew up in a green countryside, would still save his best friend's life, as he would if he was an urban dweller. Or the house wife who would still adore cooking at home, just as she would if she had to be in charge of canteen duty for soldiers during a war. It's enough that we are influenced by so many thoughts and things and people around us. But at the core of it, to still be who we are, inside.

By identifying our values, our little idiosyncrasies, and how they contribute to our differences and makes us who we are. Of course there will be features and characteristics that would vary if we were to live as someone else. However, I guess the truest people are the ones who would still remain as themselves, would still hold the same pillars, regardless of their place in life. To identify and hold on to the essence of our beings is to be in touch with our existence, irregardless of geography and time.
