Hari Malaysia

Should we, truly, be proud?

Societal bound questions aside, there's a need to propagate realistically, the multifarious facets pertaining the country. I'd love to gush adoration in light of the national day, but recent abundance of mass discourse addressing heated politics, crimes, and community apprehension towards all things racial, renders the term 'unity' and 'steady development' slightly pretentious.

On a more positive scale, there's still enough good vibes to restore a semblance of glowing pride in me. Recently, Nik Cheong's project, My Malaysia 50x50 came about in the social sphere, and I'm still enjoying the simple brilliance of its pursuit. Stories via a patriotic canvas is adequately cheesy and ingenious, because what better way to commemorate this day than through its people?

On that note, Selamat Hari Malaysia :)
