In life, you are given choices. These choices, will comprise of an infinite amount of possibilities; they will be buried within wispy folds and layers, hazy extents in which outcomes are almost always impossible to predict. Most of the time, these windows of chance are thought to be insignificant, are stumbled and taken upon subconsciously at the spur of the moment. They happen as a passing, a flitting thought, an acute decision. The actual point of choice remains unnoticed until the wave of changes comes crashing in full, snide glory. Because until its gravity is felt, you are wading in the sea of of your own steps, your own mold; and only when the shift in tide arrives will you wonder where the wave came from, and how it came to be.
What should be noted, is that the wave started off as a tiny ripple in the tic of time some past ago. It grew and fed on abysmality, on carelessness, on tiny, petty things that you thought didn't matter in the bigger picture, on tasks you thought could be done tomorrow, and resolutions that could 'obviously' be put on hold. It belched on wasted productivity and bloated upon itself and then you realise that you are not where you want to be, not at this age, not like this. You forgot that the wave could have been prevented, if you'd pause and consciously reflect on the water a little ways ago. You could have realised that the outcome of everything, everything, was in your hands, with only that. What should be noted, is that the catch for your own future is paid for only by the strength to take up the chances, the will to stick through your choices, and then, the heart to make the changes you could have only wished for.
And with this, I bury my semester.
